Signal Desk
Incoming signals are not articles yet.
Publast begins before the headline. The signal desk watches the language around a topic, the path a claim takes through public sources, and the gaps that appear when a story moves too quickly. This is not a dashboard for vanity metrics. It is a practical editorial filter: what is new, what is repeating, what needs a primary source, and what should be delayed until the desk understands the route.
A good signal is not simply loud. It is traceable, explainable, and useful to a reader who needs a clear answer without losing the caveats. The desk records why an item matters, what evidence supports it, and which phrases should not be repeated until they have been checked.
